THE SPIRIT OF LEE MILLER

Opening night : Wednesday 6th of July with a in conversation between the grad daughter of Lee Miller, Ami Bouhassane and Misia-O’ . RSVP only.

A capsule exhibition of black and white photographs, as a tribute to Lee Miller intrepid’s life and photography career starting with surrealism. A top model, a muse of Man Ray, Picasso, Steichen, Cocteau for many years, Lee Miller turned the camera away from her and started her photography career learning her skills with Man Ray. A surrealist , free spirited women, Lee Miller combined beauty, brain and talent. A mix not exactly celebrated in an extremely patriarchal society especially in the 1930’s. Yet, she succeeded. This exhibition includes limited edition photographs, art photography book with poems, NFT’s and a perfume created specifically for “The Spirit of Lee Miller”.

It coincides serendipitously with a major retrospective at l’Espace Van Gogh in Arles during Les Rencontres d’Arles: ‘Lee Miller: Professional Photographer’ (1932-1945) which will focus on the most prolific periods of Miller’s life, featuring her fashion & advertising photography and portraits, as well as her more gritty photojournalism, including powerful images captured in Dachau and Buchenwald during World War II.
